Why Natural Buttons Do Not Look Exactly the Same

Natural buttons are made from materials such as horn, natural bone, shell, wood, and corozo.

Unlike plastic buttons, natural materials are not perfectly uniform.

Variation is a normal characteristic of natural materials and part of what makes each button unique.

Natural Variation

Natural buttons may show differences in tone, grain, pattern, and transparency.

Some buttons may appear darker, lighter, or more patterned than others.

Lighting

Strong lighting can make natural grain, layers, and internal patterns more visible.

As a result, the same button may appear different under different lighting conditions.

Natural Markings

Natural horn buttons may show visible grain lines, lighter streaks, or layered markings.

Because horn and natural bone are layered organic materials, these markings are natural characteristics of the material rather than manufacturing defects.

Dyed Natural Materials

Some natural buttons are dyed to create different colors.

Because the dye is applied to a natural base, the original material can still influence the final appearance.

This means slight variation between buttons, batches, or sizes is normal.
